This list reflects my own interests and is certainly not all-inclusive. At the top is my own book, and the rest are books I have read and recommend, with some DVDs in the mix. A few are the works of friends for which I make comments. All can be ordered through Amazon.com. Just click on the image.

I will continue to recommend this book, not just because David Lee Thompson is my cousin and my friend, but because his voice so powerfully describes the culture we were both born into—one that, for better or worse, is drastically changing.
After four successful ghost research books, David J. Pitkins has written a novel—a mystery set in the Adirondack Mountains. The same care and attention to detail in his previous books is evident in this new book. A good story! See my entire review on Amazon.
I've know David Pitkin for thirty years, and if anyone is qualified to write on this subject, it is he. See his other books below.
Bill McDonald is the founder and former president of the Military Writers Society of America (MWSA.) His book is a personal account of , and an inspiration for, rising above the "slings and arrows" of life.

This is not a genre I normally read, but Ryk Spoor is a budding young talent and a friend. Peter and Dottie Spoor were our close friends for over forty years. They are both gone now. They had two sons, Ryk and Philip. Both are talented men, Phil in music, and Ryk in writing. This is Ryk's first book.
Grahm McGill is a friend of many years.
I first met Don Bowers in 1996. He told me about his soon-to-be published book. We flew over our crash site with him in 1998. He and three Denali Park rangers were killed in 2000 while taking off from a glacier.
My great interest in this book results from my friendship with Dave Johnston, who was one of the three who made the first winter ascent of Denali. Many of Dave's photographs are in my Gallery Pictures albums on this website. Even without the Dave Johnston connection, the book is an excellent read.
I know Gary Geiger, but not the author.
Don Sheldon was one of the pilots who rescued us from the Alaska wilderness in 1954. In spite of mistakes and omissions in the five pages about our crash, this is still an excellent book that tells the story of Sheldon's exciting life as one of Alaska's pioneering bush pilots.
The author is Don Sheldon's widow. I haven't found a better history of the town and its people.
For the poetry lovers among us.
The best of American poetry from colonial to the present.
Warning—this is additive. This first book in the series will likely not be the last you will want to read.
